LETTER: A dangerous curve for cyclists

As we all know, the North Shore is the most popular place to ride bikes. In the last few years, bike traffic has increased by leaps and bounds, which is a good thing. But I am really worried about their safety and would like to bring the powers-that-be’s attention to a bad corner before someone is badly injured or killed.

That is the big concrete wall at Willow Point. If you or your group are biking toward Nelson and are caught in that corner by a logging truck or a heavy equipment trailer doing 60 km/hr behind you, you are in trouble.

There is less than a foot of space from the edge of the pavement to the concrete block wall. It is just a matter of time before someone on a bike is going to be crushed. The highway engineers have initiated this problem, but now is the time to move the block wall back ten feet before someone is killed on that corner.
