LETTER: Alley trimming and communication

From reader Paul Boscariol

Re: “City responds to residents’ anger over alley trimmings,” Aug. 20

It’s unfortunate that the City of Nelson officials didn’t properly communicate with the citizens that this process was going to take place. If that were done residents could have had the opportunity to relocate any plants that had grown beyond their property line.

It is also worth noting that nothing is being done by city officials where plants, hedges, shrubs and trees have encroached onto sidewalks thereby forcing pedestrians to step onto sometimes busy streets in order to continue their walk. In many instances, the trees are on city owned boulevards and are not the property of homeowners! These pose more hazards than many of the plants the city razed in the back alleys of Nelson.
