LETTER: Election drum roll

From reader Ron Robinson

You may have noticed the increase in drum rolls as the various political parties prepare for battle in the voting booth. You may also have noticed, regardless of where your X was placed, your “representative” really represents their party. As much as they might claim to be working for you, unless your interests and concerns are those of the party narrative, your voice will not be heard or at best receive minor attention.

We can find regular reminders of this when we receive no response from questions sent to our “representative.” A response, if any, will probably be a form letter that doesn’t address your question. It doesn’t seem to matter for which party you voted. We sometimes find that various media outlets will focus more on comment that favours the party they support. Are you listening to the drum roll?
