LETTER: Happy New Year to the innovators helping to save the planet

From reader Marylee Banyard

Happy New Year to those helping the planet

Best wishes for the New Year to Warren Buffet and his team (BHE Canada) for putting his money into building a huge new wind farm in Alberta (Rattlesnake Ridge) and to Bill Gates too, using his money for our transition to a healthy lifestyle and economically vibrant future with sustainable jobs. Also to all innovators, employers and employees in sustainable energy and to us, working to foster a healthy environment for the future of the planet.

Oil has served us well, but it has created such a large footprint (we in Canada are a significant producer of oil and among the top 10 in personal consumption) that we can now take responsibility, with our technical abilities, to assist globally. What to do?

My New Year resolution is to support all efforts to transition, including what people in the field believe to be the most important: a fee on carbon. May 2020 bring us all the excitement of this adventure! Happiness and prosperity to all!
