I was saddened to read about the increase in COVID-19 cases in Nelson and area and the fact that this has resulted in concern regarding whether Trail hospital will have the capacity in ICU beds to deal with a possible influx of patients.
Some people might not know that until 2002 Nelson’s Kootenay Lake hospital had ICU beds. These were removed when the government in power back then re-organized our hospitals and put all ICU beds in Trail.
Wouldn’t it be great if Nelson still has those ICU beds?
