Nelson is growing! According to the Nelson Star there is more construction this year in Nelson than any year since the mining boom days of the 1890s.

With this there is more traffic, more noise and more pollution from vehicle exhausts. There is an increasing number of boats on our waterfront.

Electric assist bikes have helped reduce traffic. Bike routes are a big help. Improving our bus system and eventually switching to electric buses is helping.

I would like to suggest to limit vehicles in our city (excluding Highway 3) to low emission (35 mpg) or zero emission vehicles and to limit new condominium developments to not include boat moorage.

To discuss these issues further consider attending the climate and environment all candidates forum, at Nelson United Church, 602 Silica St., Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.
