LETTER: Michael Jessen was ahead of his time

I was shocked to hear about the death of Michael Jessen. I worked with him when he opened the Preservation House restaurant and I worked upstairs on a research project to substitute ethanol for gasoline in our cars. The vegetarian restaurant was great, too.

Michael also opened the first recycling centre in Nelson, which was eventually shut down. He was always ahead of his time on environmental issues, and our community will be lessened because he’s gone.
