The federal Conservatives, BC Conservatives and BC United are all promising to end B.C.’s carbon tax, and BC United to shut down Clean BC as well.

My spouse and I currently receive $305.78 every three months in sales tax rebates from the federal and B.C. government. We have not owned a car since 2005 and with our B.C. bus pass use the local bus service. We are wondering by how much these parties are planning to cut our sales tax rebate, as we are currently using the rebate to pay off the air source heat pump we purchased in November.

In addition to the introduction of the BC Carbon tax in 2008, as BC United leader Kevin Falcon knows, the two lowest income brackets under $70,000 saw their rates reduced by two per cent in 2008 and five per cent in 2009.

Likewise the corporate tax rate was reduced from 12 per cent to 10 per cent between 2008 and 2011. The small business tax rate went from 4.5 per cent to 2.5 per cent between 2008 and 2011.

So BC United and BC Conservatives, when you abolish the carbon tax will you be increasing our income tax rates again? I really want to know how much eliminating the carbon tax is going to cost me and my spouse.
