Re: Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary to disband after 90 years (Sept. 23)

As I read the news that the Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary is folding, I reflect on all the wonderful memories I have of the volunteers coming to the floors, cheering up the patients, setting up TVs (I could never figure out how to do that), and giving out books and magazines. I’ve been nursing for over 35 years at KLH and the auxiliary has always been there. Whether it was a quick gift from the gift shop or chocolate bar or a card, I was able to zip down on my break. The volunteers always had a beautiful smile and were keen to show off the beautiful quilts, stuffed animals, locally made baby sweaters etc. Oh, and the amazing bake sales!

Thank you for all those years. I miss you.
