We moved to Nelson in 1965 when the population was about 10,000. To the best of my recollection the complete staff of our police force including officers, dispatchers, clerical, and administration numbered 14 or 15 in total.
If I’ve heard correctly, the present number of officers alone is 16. The current population is about 10,000, unchanged from 1965.
Please city council, learn to say no. This is little Nelson, not New York, Toronto, or Vancouver with their big city problems. It is getting more difficult each year for retired seniors to remain in their homes with the ever-increasing costs.
