The past year we have experienced many transportation disruptions including wild fires, earthquakes, atmospheric rivers, and floods. These situations amplify the necessity of finding methods of moving people and products without increasing our environmental problems.

The extreme weather events, as well as the loss of Greyhound, has led to problems getting people to health appointments, employment, and family, and getting food and services to people. This is especially serious for the poor, disabled, seniors, youth, and people living in rural, northern, and First Nations communities.

We must immediately address these concerns, which are heightened by our current critical climate issues. A haphazard collection of private, disconnected systems is not sufficient. The solution must be public, and interconnected to both rural and urban areas. A public bus service which is accessible, affordable, frequent, safe, permanent, interconnected, and environmentally friendly would be a workable and effective step.

We are asking people to go online to the Government of Canada Petition #e-3723 (Transportation) presented by the MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley on Dec. 9, 2021 and sign if you support this suggestion.
