Transfer station site ‘a disaster’

It has come to my attention that a waste transfer station is to be constructed at the end of Insight Drive in the business park. In order to obtain access to this area, vehicles must leave the city limits and travel on the highway.

If the next generation of dump trucks that utilize this facility are low-speed heavy electric vehicles, they would not be able to travel to this site since these vehicles are not permitted on the highway. Clearly diesel power will still be needed to transport the garbage from city to landfill.

Building a waste transfer station without first considering future vehicle transport would be a greater disaster for our heritage city than scrapping the fleet of vintage Orion buses.
