Well, isn’t that grand? The B.C. Liberal government has chosen its own “impartial” group of four experts to advise it on the merits of the Harper Sales Tax (HST). Does anyone doubt the outcome of this government appointed panel?

I was appalled to see your placement of an “obituary” for someone’s dog placed on the page with the other obituaries in your paper of January 19.

By the end of January, it can be a bit stale to say happy new year. Greetings, for the most part, have moved on to the regular hello, how’s it going and hi. But I haven’t had a chance to wish all you Nelson Star readers a happy new year, so let me take this space to say “All the best in 2011!”

The annual taxpayer squeeze is on. Otherwise known as city budget time, city departments and services have been sharpening their pencils in an effort to determine how to best deliver over the next 12 months.

The timing was bizarre, yet fitting for a member of the Sandwich Generation.

If the Star is looking to alienate a large portion of its readership it need only continue running Tom Fletcher’s propaganda column.

The recovery mission at Kokanee Glacier earlier this week was dramatic. The tragic death of an Alberta man set off a course of events that once again pulled together some of the most selfless members of our community.
