Geoff Kinrade and the Binghamton Senators continue their romp through the American Hockey League post season.

The Senators held a 2-0 Eastern Conference series lead over the Charlotte Checkers heading into Game 3 on Tuesday night (past Star deadline).

Kinrade — who grew up playing Nelson Minor Hockey and manned the blueline for the Nelson Junior Leafs for two seasons — is in his second season with the Ottawa Senators farm team.

The Senators opened the series last Thursday with a 7-4 win at the Checkers’ Time Warner Cable Arena in North Carolina. Binghamton followed up with a 3-0 shutout on Friday night.

The series shifts to Binghamton, New York for Games 3 and 4.

The Senators came into the AHL playoffs ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference. They have already knocked off Manchester and Portland who both finished the regular season with more points. Charlotte came into the quest for the Calder Cup ranked number-two in the Eastern Conference.
