Bhabra, Wouters compete at weighlifting championships

Two Nelson athletes represented B.C. at the Canadian Junior Weightlifting Championships earlier this month.

Amit Bhabra and Jaydon Wouters competed at the event in Brossard, Que., on Jan. 14.

Bhabra, who works out at Maverick Fitness, finished fifth in his weight class with an 83-kilogram snatch and a 100 kg clean and jerk.

Power By You's Wouters, snatched 86 kg and clean and jerked 108 kg to finish 11th in his class.

The pair were among six athletes invited by the provincial team to compete. B.C. finished fifth overall in the men's competition, and third on the women's side.
