The Nelson Blueliners, the area’s competitive recreational women’s team, are looking forward to their 18th season of exciting hockey.

The Nelson squad is coming off of a very successful 2010 season where they played higher level rec hockey in Spokane, Whitefish, Kaslo, Vernon, and of course at their own tourney — the Nelson Icebreaker.

The Blueliners are starting the 2011 season by heading down to Spokane to defend their Hoctoberfest crown in mid-October and to Wenatchee and Whitefish later in the year.

The Blueliners may take their hockey seriously, but they have a lot of fun.

They are beginning weekly practices with coach Rob Wright on Sunday, October 2 at 6:30 to 7:45 in the Nelson and District Community Complex.

The squad is looking for new players. Interested in taking part in challenging practices or going to tournaments throughout the area? Contact Loreli at 250-359-2996.
