Castlegar Rebels end Nelson Leafs’ winning streak

The Nelson Leafs’ 12-game winning streak came to an end Friday in Castlegar.

The Rebels opened the game with three unanswered goals and went on to beat the Leafs 4-3.

It was Castlegar’s second win against Nelson in nine meetings this season.

Tyson Lautard, Tyler Pisiak and Joe Davidson each scored for the Leafs (29-10-1), while Tenzin Mint made 17 saves.

Justin Duguay scored twice for Castlegar (15-22-2), while Jacob Moldenhauer and Aidan MacNeill added singles. Rebels goaltender Ethan Lawczynski turned aside 32 shots for the win.

The Leafs finish the regular season with a pair of home games. They play the Beaver Valley Nitehawks on Friday before hosting the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Saturday.
