Davidson had the go-ahead goal in the third period as well as an empty-net score after the Leafs gave up two power-play goals early in the first.

Tyler Pisiak and Lane Goodwin also scored for Nelson (5-3-1). Tenzin Mint was pulled from Nelson’s net after allowing two goals on six shots. He was replaced by Dylan Marshall, who had to stop just 13 shots the remainder of the game.

Brydon Bell and Tyson Kistner responded for the winless Border Bruins (0-7-0), while goaltender Ethan Shebansky was forced to make 45 saves.

The Leafs return to Grand Forks on Nov. 5 before visiting the Castlegar Rebels on Nov. 6. Nelson doesn’t return home until a game against the Border Bruins on Nov. 13.
