Nelson Minor Hockey grad Isaac MacLeod and the Boston College Eagles start their quest for a national championship this weekend in St. Louis.

Nelson Minor Hockey grad Isaac MacLeod and his Boston College Eagles will begin their quest to the NCAA’s Frozen Four tournament on Friday.

After capturing the Hockey East title last weekend over the Merrimack College Warriors (Massachusetts), the Eagles will take their number-three national ranking into the NCAA tournament.

The Eagles take on the Colorado Springs Tigers tonight at the St. Louis Scottrade Centre, home of the St. Louis Blues. Boston College is riding a 10 game undefeated streak against Colorado Springs that dates back to 1967.

If the Eagles win the tournament opener they will play Saturday night against the winner of the University of Michigan and University of Nebraska Omaha. The winner of that game scores a berth into the Final Four tournament which will be held in St. Paul, Minnesota on the April 7-9 weekend.

MacLeod is a freshman on the Eagles. The first-year defenceman played in 24 of the Eagles 38 games so far and has registered three assists.

Boston College is the defending national champion in NCAA hockey. This season they compiled a 30-7-1 record and are considered the third best college hockey team in the States behind Yale and North Dakota.

MacLeod’s older brother Alex wrapped up his junior college hockey season with the Michigan Tech Huskies on a lower note. The Huskies finished the season with a 4-29-4 record and were crushed 8-0 in their final game by North Dakota.
