Game on: Spring is in the Air

Spring sport registration deadlines are here, and are a welcome sign that warmer weather and spring break are nearer by the minute! 

The Nelson Youth Soccer registration deadline is March 11. All age House soccer registration fee is $100 by the deadline date. Registrations thereafter are $130 and are subject to space availability. To register please go to nys.ca and select online registrations, or mail in hard copy registration forms (available on website or at NDCC). Please note that NYS does not have an office to drop off hard copy registrations so mail in is necessary. Payment may be made by credit card or cheque. 

Volunteers are the backbone of this organization and team coaches and managers are essential for league subsistence. Besides being a rewarding job, it’s a fun way to spend time with your own kids. Training is available. 

Referees are another essential job for youth soccer to happen. Training clinics and certification are provided with reflective pay scale. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, referee, or have other inquiries please visit nys.ca or call 250-352-0730.

Glacier Gymnastics’ spring session registration opens on March 7 online at 8 a.m. and spring break camps will be running March 21 to 25 for ages 4 and up. For more information call 250-352-2227 or visit        GlacierGymnastics.com.

The Kootenay Rhythm Dragon Boat Team is welcoming all ages to join the club this year. The club is hosting its membership drive and open house on March 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at 518 Lake Street (lower level – CCRR office). With the hosting of the BC Seniors Games Dragon Boating event in Nelson in August participants 55 years and up are also encouraged to check it out. Attention athletes 55 years old and up. The BC Seniors Games are being hosted in Nelson, Trail and Castlegar August 16 to 20. 

Nelson is hosting bridge, cribbage, cycling, dragon boats, ice hockey, mountain biking, one act plays, and table tennis.
