Innkeepers win men’s soccer championship

The Innkeepers revenged last year's final loss with a hard fought 4-0 win over Kootenay Co-op in the final of the Men's League.

The Innkeepers revenged last year's final loss with a hard fought 4-nil win over Co-op in the final of the Men's League Saturday at Lakeside Park. Calvin Opiyo scored the only goal of the first half. Danny Santano and Ryan Lewis scored the second and third goals while Mike Ballance scored the nicest goal of the game with a header late in the game to put out it out reach for the Co-op. The final in the Nelson City Soccer League Leo’s Men’s Open featured the Innkeepers battling the Kootenay Co-op this afternoon. The Innkeepers revenged last year's final loss with a hard fought 4-nil win over Co-op in the final of the Men's League at Lakeside Park.

Calvin Opiyo scored the only goal of the first half. Danny Santano and Ryan Lewis scored the second and third goals while Mike Ballance scored the nicest goal of the game with a header late in the game to put out it out reach for the Co-op.

The championship final is in the Jackson’s Hole Men’s Masters League as Red Dog and Jackson’s Hole play on Sunday, October 5 at 3:45 p.m.
