KIJHL: Howell scores in double-OT as Leafs edge Nitehawks

Nelson's 3-2 win was its second straight home game that went to double overtime.

Dale Howell scored with 33 seconds left in double overtime as the Nelson Leafs edged the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 3-2 on Friday.

Colum McGauley and David Lenzin also scored for the Leafs (4-3-1), who rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the first period.

Devin Allen, who the Leafs signed prior to the game after he was cut from a Junior A team in Alberta, stopped 31 shots in his debut with No. 1 starter Jason Sandhu sidelined by injury.

Nolan Percival and Blake Sidoni opened the game with a goal apiece for the Nitehawks (4-3-2), while Talon Kramer finished with 21 saves in net.

The Leafs next visit Beaver Valley on Friday before hosting the Castlegar Rebels on Saturday.
