KIJHL: Rebels hold off Leafs' comeback

The Nelson Leafs scored twice in the third period but couldn't complete the comeback in a 3-2 loss to the Rebels on Saturday in Castlegar.

Sam Weber and Dale Howell each scored for the Leafs (2-2-0), while Ben Kelsch made 26 saves in his first start of the season.

Daniel Petten, Logan Styler and Everett Hicks had a goal apiece for the Rebels (2-2-0). Goaltender Jason Mailhiot, meanwhile, was spectacular in holding off the Leafs with 35 saves.

The Leafs host a rematch against the Rebels on Friday at the Nelson and District Community Complex.
