After upsetting the Manchester Monarchs in an epic seven game series to open the playoffs, the Ottawa Senators farm team holds a 3-1 series lead over of the Portland Pirates after downing the higher ranked team 5-1 on Monday night in Binghamton, New York.

The Senators came into the playoffs as the seventh ranked team in the Eastern Conference. The Pirates finished the regular season in second place in the conference and were the Atlantic Division champions.
