Leafs earn first win of season in Summerland

Keenan Crossman scored twice as the Nelson Leafs earned their first victory of the season with a 5-1 win against the Steam in Summerland on Friday.

New goaltender Anderson Violette made 29 saves in his debut for the Leafs (1-3-3), who also had goals from Ryan Quinn Nielsen-Webb, Lane Goodwin and Alek Erichuk.

Cory Loring had the lone goal for Summerland (4-3-0), while goalie Eric Scherger allowed four goals on 25 shots before being replaced by Darby Tipton for the third period.

Nelson next hosts the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Saturday.
