Leafs lose Game 2, series against Nitehawks tied at 1

Nelson gave up 4 straight goals en route to a 5-3 loss

The Nelson Leafs allowed four unanswered goals en route to a 5-3 loss in Game 2 Saturday against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.

The loss ties the Neil Murdoch Division final at one. Games 3 and 4 are Monday and Tuesday in Fruitvale, followed by Game 5 in Nelson on Thursday.

Johnny Carmichael and Rhett Hamilton each scored in the second period to give the Leafs a 2-0 lead before the Nitehawks rallied. Bennett Anklewich also scored for Nelson while Tenzin Mint allowed all five goals on 26 shots in front of the home crowd.

Brennan Wilson scored twice for the Nitehawks, who also had singles from Hunter Burgeson, Ethan Jang and Austin McKenzie. Owen Albers got the start in net for the Nitehawks but left after making 15 saves through two periods. Kevin Engman replaced him and finished with four more saves.
