Leafs secure playoff berth with win over Nitehawks

Caiden Kreitz made his debut in Nelson’s 2-1 win

Nicholas Wihak and Justin Podgorenko scored as the Nelson Leafs edged the Beaver Valley Nitehawks 2-1 in Fruitvale on Friday.

Caiden Kreitz made his debut in net for the Leafs (24-6-3), stopping 28 shots en route to the win, which secured Nelson a playoff berth.

Liam Coulter meanwhile made 22 saves for Beaver Valley (17-13-3).

Nelson’s next game is at home tonight against the Kimberley Dynamiters.
