Local track athletes combine to win five medals

Nelson's Matti Erickson and Matteo Farraguna tore up the track in Vancouver on the weekend.

This past weekend two members of Nelson’s Kootenay Chaos Track and Field Club attended the Harry Jerome Indoor competition held in Vancouver and returned with five medals.

Matti Erickson won the 60-metre, 300-metre and 600-metre races and was presented with the outstanding performance award for his age class, a Timex Harry Jerome watch.

Matteo Farraguna was the silver medalist in the 300-metre and won the bronze medal in the 60-metre final.

More than 600 athletes from the Lower Mainland attended the competition held at the Richmond multiplex arena.
