The powder was plentiful, the temperatures cold and the party was on as Whitewater Ski Resort held the 12th annual Kootenay Coldsmoke Powder Fest last weekend.

Events including competitions, clinics and a Saturday night party at Hume Hotel.

Lori Anne Donald and Jon Francis were named the Queen and King of Coldsmoke, which earned them a prize pack, a 2018-19 seasons pass and a day of heliskiing.

Francis won the North Face Backcountry Olympics event, while Donald took the open women’s category of the Village Ski Hut Slopestyle event. Donald also finished second in the open women’s division of the ROAM Randonnee Rally behind her national ski mountaineering teammate Kylee Ohler.

Other winners of the Randonnee included: Eric Carter (open men); Stephen Peters (heavy metal men); Monika Ambrozaitis (heavy metal women); and Scott Jeffrey (splitboard men).

Slopestyle results included: Tristan Martin-Preney (open men); Estelle Pensiero (youth girls); Nate Atkins (youth boys); Emily Horn (junior girls); and Liam Curwin (junior boys).
