A man has pled guilty to stealing from the Nelson Leafs’ Recycling Depot.

Dezmond Waggoner, who previously worked at the depot, received a suspended sentence of one-year probation and a $100 victim surcharge.

Waggoner had initially been charged in June with theft over $5,000, but admitted in court to having stole $80.

Nelson Police Det-Const. David Laing, the main investigating officer, said last summer that the theft had occurred between May 2016 and February 2017.
