Martin, Stinson win doubles title at West Kootenay Open

The Nelson Tennis Club hosted the three-day tournament last weekend

Nelson’s Matt Martin and Ron Stinson won the men’s doubles title during the West Kootenay Open on Sunday at the Nelson Tennis Club.

Forty-two players from Nelson, Calgary, Vancouver, Fernie, Cranbrook, Creston, Trail and Grand Forks took part in the three-day tournament.

Calgary’s Mark MacConnell won men’s singles, while Kelowna’s Krista Martens took the women’s trophy. Martens also won the mixed doubles title with Joel de Phyffer. Fernie’s Sara McFarlane and Lucy Harrup meanwhile triumphed in ladies’ doubles.
