Masters gold for Maytom

The Nelson paddler finished first in kayak doubles marathon at the World Masters Games in April

Nelson Kayak and Canoe Club paddler Neville Maytom is back home with a gold medal from the World Masters Games.

Maytom and partner George Green finished first in the kayaking doubles marathon at the multi-sport event held in Auckland, New Zealand, which ran in April.

The pair also finished third in the 200-metre, 500 and 1,000 sprint events.

Maytom’s latest result follows the bronze he won in doubles kayak at the ICF Canoe Marathon Masters World Cup last September.
