Nelson boxers earn 3 wins in Fernie

Riel Martinez won his first bout after returning from the Canada Winter Games

The Nelson Boxing Club won three bouts at a card in Fernie lat weekend.

Riel Martinez, back from competing at the Canada Winter Games, earned a decision victory over Cranbrook’s Jaxon Chisholm. Martinez, 17, used good accuracy and pressure as well as some pinpoint counter punches to win.

Torin Edmonds, 15, earned a second-round stoppage in a near-flawless performance against Avery Rafett of Taber, Alta.

Jack Dool, 14, rallied after dropping the first round to earn a split decision against Taber’s Logan Jordan.

Milane D’Aurelie, 16, won the first round but lost a hard-fought decision to the heavier and more experienced Kya Chisholm of Cranbrook.
