Nelson’s Riel Martinez won gold and was voted outstanding Elite boxer during the Alberta Silver Gloves in Medicine Hat.
Martinez was one of six Nelson boxers to win gold at the event on Jan. 21. Milane D’Aurelie beat teammate Jahsiah Snow for gold, while Beau Mahoney, Sabian Smith, Jaxon Zaytsoff and Torin Edmonds also finished first.
Freddy Dool, Snow, Lola Brouillette and Porter Hansen meanwhile took home silver.
Nelson Boxing Club finished with a record of 13 wins and four losses.
