Dylan Marshall made 23 saves in his KIJHL debut as the Nelson Leafs beat the Fernie Ghostriders 4-1 on Saturday for their first win of the season.
Rhett Hamilton, Ethan Machan, Kevin Lawrance and Simon Nemethy each scored for the Leafs (1-0-1), who split their opening weekend games in Nelson after a loss Friday to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks.
Tanner Chapman had the lone goal for the Ghostriders (0-2-0) in the first period. McCoy Bidewell, meanwhile, made 32 saves.
Nelson next travels to Fernie for a rematch on Friday before visiting the Kimberley Dynamiters on Saturday. The Leafs are back home Oct. 16 against the Golden Rockets.
