Nelson Leafs cap regular season with blowout win

The Nelson Leafs ended the regular season by routing the Grand Forks Border Bruins 7-1 at home Saturday.

Tyson Lautard scored twice and added an assist for the Leafs (31-10-1), while Seamus Boyd, Lane Goodwin, Kingsley Brockett, Presley Gordon and Bennett Anklewich scored singles. Rhett Hamilton chipped in with three assists, and Dylan Marshall stopped 25 shots.

Justin Dueck allowed all seven goals on 48 shots in net for the Border Bruins (5-34-3), with Ollie Morberg scoring the lone goal for the visitors.

The result leaves the Leafs atop the Neil Murdoch Division heading into the post-season, where they play the Castlegar Rebels in the first round. Game 1 begins Tuesday in Nelson, followed by Game 2 in Nelson on Wednesday. The series then moves to Castlegar for Games 3 and 4 on Friday and Saturday.
