The Nelson Leafs scored two short-handed goals and overwhelmed the struggling Border Bruins en route to an 8-0 blowout win in Grand Forks on Tuesday.
Bryce Sookro scored twice, while Lane Goodwin and Devin McNair each scored shorthanded. Ryan Quast, Marko Pavlovic, Bryden Pow and Seamus Boyd added singles for the Leafs, with Tenzin Mint making 28 saves for the shutout.
The win moved Nelson (9-4-1) two points clear of the Beaver Valley Nitehawks atop the Neil Murdoch Division with a game in hand.
Justin Dueck allowed all eight goals on an astonishing 60 shots in net for the Border Bruins, who remain without a point at 0-13-0.
The Leafs have now outscored Grand Forks 18-5 through four games this season.
Nelson next travels to Fruitvale for two games against the Nitehawks on Friday and Saturday.
