More than 50 young hockey players took to the ice in an attempt to earn a coveted spot with the local Junior B club.

On Saturday night the Leafs took on a squad from Beaver Valley in an inter-squad game.

On Sunday morning Leafs coach Frank Maida made his first round of cuts and headed into the week with more difficult decisions.

The Leafs take on Beaver Valley tonight at the NDCC and will match up against Creston on Friday. Game times are 7 p.m. at the local arena.
