The Nelson Leafs are on a four-game winning streak and have a tentative hold on the division lead.

Nelson doubled the Border Bruins in Grand Forks 4-2 on Friday before shutting out the Castlegar Rebels 3-0 at home Saturday.

In Grand Forks, Rhett Hamilton scored twice and added an assist for the Leafs (13-7-1), while Devin McNair and Lane Goodwin also scored. Dylan Marshall made 17 saves for the win.

Ollie Morberg had two goals for the Border Bruins (1-16-2), while goaltender Justin Dueck stopped 38 shots.

Tyson Lautard had two goals and Hamilton scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season Saturday against Castlegar. Marshall returned to net to secure the shutout with 21 saves.

Ethan Lawczynski turned aside 29 shots in net for the Rebels (8-12-1).

Grand Forks did the Leafs a favour Saturday when they beat Beaver Valley 6-1 for the Border Bruins’ first win of the season.

That allowed the Leafs to move two points clear of the Nitehawks for the Neil Murdoch Division lead.

The Leafs are back home Friday against Grand Forks before visiting the Creston Valley Thunder Cats on Saturday. They cap a busy weekend with a 2 p.m. game at home Sunday against Castlegar.
