Nelson Leafs’ winning streak snapped in loss to Castlegar

The Nelson Leafs allowed two first-period goals and never recovered in a 4-2 loss to the Castlegar Rebels on Wednesday.

Bryden Pow and Bryce Sookro each scored for the Leafs (7-4-1), who had their five-game winning streak broken at home. Goaltender Tenzin Mint made 15 saves in the loss.

Nathan Dann, Griffen Ryden, Liam Dumelie and Justin Duguay each scored for the Rebels (3-7-1), while Ethan Lawczynski stopped 36 shots.

Nelson next hosts the winless Grand Forks Border Bruins on Saturday.
