Nelson Neptunes win 5 medals at summer provincials

Kallie Badry had the team’s lone gold in Nanaimo

The Nelson Neptunes have won five medals from the BC Summer Swimming Provincials in Nanaimo.

Kallie Badry earned a gold medal in the Division 6 girls 100-metre breaststroke as well as a silver in the 200 individual medley at the event, which ran Aug. 14 to 20.

Madeline Holitzki, who also served as the Neptunes’ head coach, meanwhile won two silvers in the Div 7 girls 50 and 100 fly.

The Neptunes also earned a silver in the Div 7 girls medley relay. That team included Kallie and Keira Badry, Holitzki and Elle Chouinard.

Nine local swimmers attended provincials. Kaden Johnson, Christian Faragher, Quinn Ellis, Orson Chouinard and Evan Chouinard also competed for the Neptunes.
