Nelson Nordic Ski Club is offering a gourmet ski experience this Saturday with the return of its popular Tour de Soup, a combination of Nordic skiing, gastronomic delight and community fundraising.

Come enjoy a skate or classic ski tour of the groomed trails at Nelson Nordic, stopping in at the warming cabins at Apex, Busk and Clearwater to sample a cup of soup from some of Nelson’s finest restaurants, including The Olive Garden, Finley’s Pub/Sage Tapas and Wine Bar, the Main St. Diner, Kootenay Co-op, Hume Hotel and the Kootenay Bakery Cafe Co-op.

Soup will be available by donation (minimum suggested donation of $3 per cup), with proceeds going to support Nelson CARES and future ski club events. Please remember to bring your own cup!

“We are thrilled to have our cabins open again this year, and to our soup sponsors for helping us resurrect this fun, community event in support of Nelson CARES,” said Nelson Nordic Ski Club GM Jaime Frederick.

“We are deeply appreciative of the programs and services they provide to address affordable housing, emergency shelter, and other social issues. This is one small way we can all pull together to give back to an organization that helps the vulnerable and less fortunate in our community.”

Tour de Soup runs from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday or while soup supplies last. Trail user fees apply for those who are not already members of Nelson Nordic Ski Club.
