Over the weekend of Jan. 27 to 28, members of Nelson Nordic Junior Racers were in Prince George to compete at the BC Cup Races in both classic and skate ski events.

Under the stellar and steady coaching of Doris Hausleitner and assistant Andrew Chewter, Nelson Nordic Junior Racers put in an astounding performance.

Aleah Smith won gold in girls under-16 skate ski sprints as well as U16 classic mass start. Maya Abraham also took bronze in U18 girls skate ski.

Other results included: Dawson Abraham fourth in U16 boys skate sprint and fifth in classic; Gabriel Janz seventh in boys U16 classic and ninth in skate ski; Maya Abraham fourth in girls U18 classic; Cedric Chewter 12th in both boys U16 sprint and classic; and Linden Chewter 18th in boys U14 classic.

Congratulations to all of our hardworking young skiers! Catch them live and local on Feb. 17 to 18 at our very own Kootenay Cup races here in Nelson.
