The annually held Nelson Novice Tournament has 160 players tearing it up on both the Civic and NDCC arenas this weekend.

With two teams from Nelson among 11 squads playing hockey this weekend, the rinks are filled with both local families and out-of-towners. Teams from Spokane join visitors from Castlegar, the Okanagan, Fruitvale, Rossland/Trail.

Starting Friday night, the tournament concludes Sunday afternoon. The minor hockey tournament is the biggest held event of the hockey season in Nelson.
