Nelson synchro swim pair to compete at national qualifiers

Ashley and Brooke Sonnichsen will swim for a chance to perform at nationals in May

Nelson’s Ashley and Brooke Sonnichsen have booked a berth at the national qualifying synchronize swimming competition.

The pair won a silver in duet with their routine performed to the song “Freeze Frame” last weekend at the provincial championships in Nanaimo. The result means they will compete in Markham, Ont., at qualifiers, which run March 19 to 26.

Another strong performance there will earn the Sonnichsen sisters a ticket to May’s national championships in Calgary.
