Nelson’s Dryden Hunt has signed a two-year deal with the Calgary Flames.
The 27-year-old forward agreed to a two-way contact with the Flames worth $775,000 per season.
Hunt played for three NHL teams last season, scoring three goals in 37 games. He began the campaign with the New York Rangers, was claimed off waivers on Oct. 20 by the Colorado Avalanche, traded Dec. 19 to the Toronto Maple Leafs and then once more at the March 3 trade deadline to the Flames.
He never suited up with the Flames, instead playing for their AHL team the Calgary Wranglers. He scored five goals and 10 assists in 17 regular season games with the Wranglers, then added three goals and three assists in nine playoff games.
Hunt was signed undrafted by the Florida Panthers in 2016 after being named the Western Hockey League’s MVP while he was with the Moose Jaw Warriors.
He debuted with the Panthers in 2017, played for the Arizona Coyotes during the 2020-2021 season and joined the Rangers in 2021.
In 202 career NHL regular season games, Hunt has 15 goals and 28 assists.
