Three fighters with the Nelson Boxing Club travelled to Mission for a card Saturday.
Nelson’s Wamuna Fukada was down on the scorecard but rallied in the third round to stop Junior C 57 kilogram champion Gerald Castillo from Raincity Boxing Club in Richmond with three seconds left in the bout.
Porter Hanson used his jab and an efficient work rate to earn a fast-paced unanimous decision against Mission’s Saul Aspinal.
Djavan Mayer also fought an exhibition bout against 50-kg provincial champion Julian Angelakis from Raincity. Mayer dominated the bout with combination punching on the inside and showed a lot of improvement on his silver medal performance at provincials.
Next up for Nelson boxing will be fights in Salmon Arm on May 7 followed by the Calgary Cup in Alberta on May 13.
