Nitehawks end Leafs’ winning streak at 7

Beaver Valley edged Nelson 2-1 on Tuesday

The Nelson Leafs’ seven-game winning streak is over after losing 2-1 at home to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks on Tuesday.

Seamus Boyd had the lone goal for the Leafs (14-4-3) in the second period, while goaltender Jasper Tait made 30 saves.

Jeremy Hanson and Gavin Tritt each scored for the Nitehawks (11-8-2), with Connor Stojan stopping 33 shots.

Despite the loss, Nelson maintained its one-point lead over the Grand Forks Border Bruins atop the Neil Murdoch Division with three games in hand.

Nelson next visits Beaver Valley on Friday before hosting the Kimberley Dynamiters on Saturday.
