Prepping for junior golf

The snow might be melting painfully slow for golf enthusiasts, but that hasn’t stopped organizers of the West Kootenay golf circuit from getting fired up for the season.

The snow might be melting painfully slow for golf enthusiasts, but that hasn’t stopped organizers of the West Kootenay golf circuit from getting fired up for the season.

The circuit begins in late April and features nine weekend events on courses throughout the area. Balfour hosts the opening event on April 23 and Nelson’s Granite Pointe hosts the juniors May 8.

Though the emphasis is on enjoyment of the sport, the competition on the links is serious. The top performers will have a chance to play in the B.C. Junior Championship which will be hosted the Rossland-Trail Country Club this July.

The events are open to all players 18 and under. For more information contact Rob McKay at 250-362-7537 or email organizers at zone1juniorgolf@yahoo.ca.
