Castlegar goaltender Ethan Lawczynski made 38 saves as the Rebels beat the Nelson Leafs 4-2 on Friday to take a 2-1 lead in the opening round of the playoffs.
Jacob Moldenhauer, Justin Duguay, Cody Quinton and Griffen Ryden each scored for the Rebels, who have stymied the Leafs’ offence so far in the series backed by the sensational play of Lawczynski.
Tyler Pisiak scored twice for the Leafs, while goaltender Dylan Marshall made 24 saves.
Game 4 is Saturday in Castlegar, followed by Game 5 in Nelson on Monday.
